In the old days, Chettiars were primarily settled in Karaikudi and the surrounding villages (Chettinadu).With time, due to various factors, the Chettiar community has become widely disseminated throughout the world. Despite this dispersion, chettiars have managed to maintain their roots. They have congregated in multiple cities throughout the world, in order to cultivate the chettiar culture and values.Still, the physical distance between the members of the chettiar community is a major hindrance tofurther development of the community. To bridge this gap, we propose the concept of Global KKDI.Global KKDI is the idea of having a virtual community center for all chettiars throughout the world. TheMeyyappa and Valliammai Subramaniyam Family Foundation regards this concept to be crucial for thesurvival of the Chettiar community and culture, and will strive to develop it, particularly from thestandpoint of youth involvement.
